Pop-up Skate Wheel System from OMTEC Improves 90-degree Conveyor Transfers

Patent pending pneumatic system installs in tables or metal strips

Materials handling innovator Omtec® Corporation has introduced a new line of pop-up skate wheels designed to move softer materials and pallets more precisely than standard pop-up ball or fixed ball transfer systems. Offering larger surface and point loading areas than pop-up ball or fixed ball systems, Omtec’s pneumatic skate wheel systems give operators more control of conveyed products. Such improved linear control lets operators move products accurately with one hand, particularly from one conveyor to another, without concern for drift.

Providing the freedom to create work cells without the need for installing roller conveyors, the patent-pending Omtec skate wheel system offers cost advantages as well as ergonomic benefits. Any damaged bearings are easily replaced without requiring replacement of the entire unit, producing further savings.

Flexible mounting options

This new pop-up skate wheel system can be mounted into Omtec’s standard transfer strip to fit virtually any roller conveyor or can be mounted into a work surface where only front-to-back or left-to-right movement of product is required. Once the product is in position, operators simply release the air to secure the product in place. Omtec’s skate wheels are available with steel or plastic coated bearings.
