New Parcel Technology to Debut at PARCEL Forum 2019

Parcel shipping is one of Target Freight Management’s (TFM) fastest-growing client groups, and at PARCEL Forum 2019 (Dallas, TX October 28-30, 2019) visitors will be able to see why: the Parcel Dimensionalizer is TFM’s proprietary technology that makes it faster, easier, more accurate, and less expensive for TFM customers to send over 500,000 annual parcel shipments (and counting). TFM developed the Dimensionalizer to serve its LTL and FTL clients, but its proven benefits are so powerful that TFM recently adapted it to create a Parcel-specific version.

“The Dimensionalizer lets our Parcel shippers quickly measure and catalog their shipments with total accuracy,” explains Chris Cummings, Director of Parcel at TFM. “The Dimensionalizer weighs, measures and dims your whole shipment in under 10 seconds. Its patented software then communicates all of this information to our Transportation Management System (TMS) and to the customer’s ERP, so everyone is on the same page. The Dimensionalizer also photographs your parcel from all angles and retains those images in its archive, which is crucial support if your shipment ever has any damages claims.”

In addition to measuring and cataloguing shipments, the Parcel Dimensionalizer’s TMS integration enables TFM to get instant shipping quotes from FedEx, UPS and/or the USPS for all modes.  By collecting and storing each shipment’s characteristics, TFM can use this data to develop new pricing strategies for contract negotiations with the carrier.

In one customer facility, the Parcel Dimensionalizer has increased throughput by 25%.  Where before installation, three people would measure and weigh each box individually and punch in the dimensions.  With the Parcel Dimensionalizer, it now takes one person and the dimensions and weight are automatically transferred to the TMS for price calculation.
