Ekin Receives Presidential Award

Richard Ekin, chairmain of Elliott Machine Works Inc, Galion OH, was recently awarded the Presidential Award by his local Chamber of Commerce, for outstanding service to his community.

His particular interest is encouraging local youth to stay in the area and consider employment at local companies.

‘A lot of us in manfacturing are interested in workforce development. We want to let young people know that there are opportunities here,”  Ekin said. To this end he has worked with the local Economic Development committee and schools to arrange student tours and educational opportunities.  “Galion has been good to my family. We have two sons that came back to Galion and I think it’s important that we keep some of our good youth and get them back to the community,” he said.
