Webinar Details Advantages of New Soft Touch Pinch-Point Safety System: Inventor Roger Hirsch to Explain How Soft Touch Prevents Riveter and Welder Injuries

Spot welder and riveter operators often need to hold parts close to moving electrodes or riveting tips where hands or fingers can be caught between the tips, resulting in amputations and other bodily damage.

To help prevent these injuries and advance worker safety on plant floors, Rockford Systems, LLC. has partnered with Unitrol Electronics, Inc. to provide sales, installation and technical support on the Soft Touch Pinch-Point Safety System for organizations that use spot welders and/or pneumatic riveters in their operations.

This 100% passive, fail-safe system stops riveters, spot welders and other small machines from applying full force when it detects fingers in the point-of-operation area, while not interfering with or slowing down the production process during normal operations. Soft Touch measures electrical continuity between the two electrodes to verify they are actually touching the part to be welded, or in the case of a riveter, continuity between the upper and lower mandrils. If anything, such as the operator’s finger, blocks the movement of the electrode, the system will not detect continuity, low pressure will be released and the electrode or mandril returns to the fully open position, thereby preventing injury to the operator.

Rockford Systems will present a live, complimentary webinar titled “How the Soft Touch Pinch-Point Safety System helps prevent riveter and welder injuries” to better introduce the many advantages of the system to customers. The webinar is scheduled for Tuesday, June 28, 2018, from 10:00-11:00 AM CDT. Roger Hirsch, president of Unitrol Electronics and the Inventor of the Soft Touch system, will host this informative seminar. Mr. Hirsch will provide an overview of the Soft Touch, as well as compare it to other pinch-point safeguarding devices, such as the Detect-A-Finger, also available from Rockford Systems.
