A+A 2023 “Expert Talk” Webinar Series to Include Exoskeleton Technology

Before the start of A+A, the World’s No. 1 Trade Fair for Safety, Security and Health at Work, the organizers are launching the “A+A Expert Talks” webinar series on key occupational health and safety topics on February 8 as a content-based preparation for the trade show. The innovative series of webinars will be geared towards both exhibitors and visitors. A+A will take place from October 24 -27, 2023 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Together with its strategic partners BASI  (German Federal Association for Occupational Safety and Health) Fraunhofer IPA, German Fashion (Modeverband Deutschland e.V.), DGUV- (German Statutory Accident Insurance), BAuA (Federal Agency for Occupational Safety and Health) as well as BMAS (Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs) and IVPS (Interest Group PPE) as well as IFA (Institute for Occupational Safety and Health), A+A will offer its community high-caliber networking and information formats. The webinars will be in English and target decision-makers from the areas of occupational safety, work planning and production planning as well as insurers, safety engineers and company physicians from all over Europe.

In cooperation with Fraunhofer IPA the first web session will provide exciting insights into the current developments and innovations in exoskeleton technology. Exoskeletons and wearables are forward-looking, cross-sector themes in the working world and are already successfully used in industry, logistics, nursing care and the skilled trades. Actively powered exoskeletons will not replace human beings in future but support them more effectively with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) and compensate for increasing physical impairments – thereby also contributing to keeping workers productive and healthy for longer. They are increasingly used in the prevention and therapy of musculoskeletal diseases.

Moderated by Urban Daub, expert in production technology and automation at the Fraunhofer IPA, specialists from science and business will demonstrate the different functionalities and possible applications of exoskeletons and present use cases, best practices and new approaches to solutions. For example, David Duwe, Vice President of Ottobock Bionic Exoskeletons Europe will show the latest innovations of the global health-tech company. Boudewijn Wisse from the Dutch exoskeleton manufacturer Laevo will present the latest back-supporting exoskeleton in his talk and explain the functions of exoskeletons to prevent back pain during heavy physical work.

In addition, the webinar will focus on the current trends and market developments in exoskeleton technology and also on the scientific perspective: it will introduce the prospective study approach “Exoworkathlon” presented by Verena Kopp, research associate at the IPA.

This evaluates exoskeletons in realistic applications and assesses them objectively on the basis of various assessment parameters. The “Exoworkathlon” will also be conducted as a live study at WearRAcon Europe and A+A 2023.

The next Expert Talk on the Management of Hazardous Substances will be held in cooperation with BASI on May 9 from 10:00 am to about 11:30 am (CET time zone) . In June, the latest developments in sustainability and circular capability as well as the European Supply Chain Due Diligence Directive will be presented in cooperation with German Fashion.
