New Professional Certificate Programs
Earlier this year, the American Industrial Hygiene Association, a gateway to renowned industrial hygiene/occupational health knowledge and expertise, launched two new professional assessment-based certificate programs, the latest addition to the Association’s AIHA University, which offers e-learning education and training resources for IH/OH professionals.
The two certificate programs offer training on specialized IH/OH topics that align with the technical frameworks outlined in the corresponding AIHA Frameworks. Participants receive a certificate after completing the online course and passing an online assessment. The goal is to educate or train participants to achieve specified learning outcomes and recognize those who have achieved them.
The two new certificate programs are the following:
- Occupational Exposure Assessment is intended for those tasked to apply the fundamentals of IH to gather, document and report monitoring data and make exposure judgments under the supervision of a more experienced industrial hygienist.
- Field Use of Direct Reading Instruments for the Detection of Gases and Vapors-Operations Level aims at operations-level users of direct-reading instruments, including maintenance technicians, emergency responders, water service workers, utility workers and construction workers.
These certificate programs are suitable for working professionals who need to fit continuing education into their busy schedules. Through these programs, they will gain skills that they can apply to their daily work and can provide tangible proof that they have achieved specialized knowledge. While certification maintenance points can be earned from completing a certificate program, AIHA certificate programs do not award certifications.
The certificate programs are part of AIHA’s newly rebranded education department: AIHA University. AIHA University offers IH/OH professionals competitive and up-to-date educational resources, delivered by the most innovative, knowledgeable and inspiring industry leaders. Its goal is to provide IH/OH professionals with simple, affordable tools for success.
Protecting worker health is a great responsibility, and that’s why AIHA is committed to providing IH/OH professionals with the cutting-edge information and training they need to do their best work. From face-to-face courses, online instruction, and CE and CM credits to e-library subscriptions, AIHce OnDemand and Frameworks, AIHA University puts IH/OH workers in control of their professional development, no matter where they are in their career.
