KEY THEMES OF SAFETY 2025
Safety 2025 will address both current and future workplace safety concerns, with themes that include:
Technology in Safety Management: As industries increasingly adopt advanced technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and the Internet of Things (IoT), sessions will take a look at how these innovations can enhance safety management systems. Case studies of successful technology integration, the role of data analytics in predicting safety incidents, and the ethical considerations surrounding these technologies will be presented.
Mental Health and Wellbeing: Attendees will learn strategies for promoting psychological safety and creating supportive work environments and implementing programs that foster employee wellbeing, as well as guidelines for recognizing mental distress.
Regulatory Changes and Compliance: With regulations continually changing, Safety 2025 sessions will provide updates on key legislative changes affecting workplace safety. Expert panels will discuss navigating compliance challenges and best practices for maintaining a culture of safety that meets regulatory requirements.
NETWORKING AT SAFETY 2025
Roundtable discussions, meetups and social gatherings will enable attendees to connect with peers, industry leaders and experts and to share experiences, discuss challenges and explore innovative solutions. Safety 2025 encourages collaboration between different sectors, such as manufacturing, healthcare, construction and technology. By bridging the gaps between industries, safety professionals can gain insights into best practices and learn how other sectors tackle similar safety challenges. Among the networking opportunities:
Live! At the Pointe – Tuesday Night Social. Appetizers, beverages and live entertainment will help attendees get into the spirit of the conference. Proceeds from the event will support the ASSP Foundation Career Development Grant Program, which provides funding to OSH professionals and students to support their professional development costs.
The Career Advancement Center is the place to cultivate relationships and have conversations about safety-related topics and professional development.
Lunchtime Meetups with ASSP Communities are an eat-and-greet way to enjoy time with fellow professionals.
Key Issue Collaboration Sessions, or “KICS,” are roundtable discussions facilitated by volunteers, with varying levels of experience. This is a chance to meet up with colleagues who are interested in specific topics and to come away with new perspectives.
SPEAKERS AND SESSIONS
Author and Harvard Business Review contributor Shasta Nelson will deliver the keynote speech. Nelson’s expertise is in translating the science of human connection into actionable strategies that help individuals and organizations build high-trust, resilient, and rewarding relationships. Her work has empowered companies like Google and LinkedIn to improve employee retention, engagement, and collaboration by fostering healthier workplace dynamics.
A panel discussion, The Silent Hazard: Mental Health, Suicide Prevention and the Role of EHS Professionals, will examine a growing crisis that directly impacts worker safety, particularly in the construction industry, which OSHA says has a suicide rate approximately four times higher than the general population. An expert panel will share insights to help EHS professionals foster a psychologically safe workplace culture, recognize warning signs, reduce lingering stigma and effectively integrate suicide prevention and mental well-being into existing safety programs.
The closing keynote speech will be delivered by Liz Bohannon, a leading workplace connection expert. The Top 1% VC-Backed Female Founder, bestselling author, and popular speaker helps teams design workplaces that prioritize human connection and to create authentic, relationship-driven organizations where every member feels valued and supported.
Concurrent one-hour sessions will cover everything from effective work-at-height controls to the role of artificial intelligence in safety management systems. Levels are beginner, intermediate and executive, and there are a multitude of tracks from which to choose, like Total Worker Health, Business and Leadership Skills, and Risk Assessment & Management. Most of these sessions allow time for Q&A and attendee participation.
